Christmas French Toast
1 loaf French bread
6 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
1 ½ cups half/half
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 stick of butter, softened
¾ cup brown sugar
2 Tbsp. dark Karo syrup
1) Night before:
Cut bread into 1 inch thick slices. Lay in bottom of well-greased 9x13 pan. (Squish them down in there, fit as many as you can.)
Mix eggs, milk, half/half, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well until frothy. Pour over bread.
Refrigerate overnight.
2) Day of:
Preheat oven to 345 degrees.
Mix softened butter, brown sugar and Karo syrup. Spread over bread. Bake 40 min or until golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes.
